Animals in Distress want to give the animals a life that is free from the abuse and neglect that they have been exposed to. We do all we can, but the truth is we need your help.

WHERE DO YOU FIT IN?
Helpers
Help is generally in the fund raising field. We need people to arrange their own events and people to help at prearranged events. Even if you can just sell some raffle tickets at work or introduce one or two friends to A.I.D. as members or helpers, it will go some way to saving an animal's life.
You can also help us by printing out the A4 Animals in Distress Poster and putting it on the notice board at work or your local library.

Please, if you can help,
Contact 0161 775 2221
Donations
These are always gratefully received. The best donations are those on a regular basis in the form of money although saving pet food, saleable goods for the charity shops or even collecting recyclable aluminium cans would be greatly appreciated. These items can be deposited at the sanctuary or at any of the charity shops. These are situated at:-
652 Hyde Road, Gorton
124 Burton Road, Withington (closed for refurbishment)
177 Station Road, Swinton
602 Liverpool Road, Irlam

You can now sell your unwanted items through our eBay.co.uk page and donate the proceeds to the sanctuaries.

Even a small amount pledged by a standing order would ensure a steady income for our sanctuary.
£1 per week will not buy you:-

  • 10 cigarettes;
  • 1 pint of beer;
  • 2 loaves of bread;
  • or the taxi fare on a Saturday night:
but, for the animals we have in and the ones yet to come that £1 means everything. Multiply this by 4 and make a standing order of £4 per month to help guarantee the safety and well-being of our animals and the continued existence of the charity. A standing order and deed of covenant means that if you are a tax payer they will pay a percentage on your order. Each year we receive thousands of cries for help.
Here is our cry - we need funds.
If you are a tax payer the tax man will put back the standard rate of tax on top of your regular donation if you make a Covenant (PDF version) to the charity of at least £4 per month for at least 4 years. This means for every £1 you give, the charity gets £1.28.
A Standing Order (PDF version) will automatically make a regular donation to the charity saving time and inconvenience whilst ensuring that your regular amounts are made.

Donations can also be of items such as straw, hay, horse feed, dog or cat food, rodent or reptile food, dog collars and/or leads, cat collars, cat litter and dog/cat food bowls.
You can also help us by purchasing your pet products from as they pay the sanctuaries a small part of the cost of your order.

Worldwide sponsorships, memberships or donations are very welcome.

If you would like to make a secure donation online using a credit card, please click the button below it will take you to our donations page.
Your donation will reach us via securegiving.co.uk.

We also accept for online donations

Sanctuary Writing Paper
We have A4 animal writing paper available with dogs, cats or horses depicted in the top right corner. This can be personalised for you with your name and address in fancy writing. There is plenty of space for the writing connoisseur and all the proceeds will go to Animals in Distress, which will be printed on the bottom of the page. 10 pages with envelopes are £2.50 incl of p&p to members and £3.00 incl of p&p to non members.
